2019-2020 NSF NRT Graduate Trainee Application Form
Application and ALL additional documents must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 19, 2019.
An information session will be held Friday, April 12 2019 at 10:00 AM in the Polymer Science Research Center Room 201.
Notification of awards will be made by May 15, 2019.
2019-2020 NRT Trainees must be available for the NRT Summer Bootcamp scheduled August 12-19 2019.
Eligibility: US citizens, permanent residents, and international students are eligible to participate in the INTERFACE traineeship program. Please note that international students are not eligible for NRT stipend support, and must be supported by alternate funding sources. Students from groups traditionally under-represented in science and engineering are especially encouraged to apply.
By submitting this form, I hereby apply for consideration to NSF NRT - INTERFACE at The University of Southern Mississippi, and certify that to the best of my knowledge all of the below statements are true and complete. If accepted, I agree to participate in the program from June 1, 2019 to May 31, 2020 and will complete an internship. I will comply with all applicable USM and NSF Program terms and conditions governing my participation. I authorize the NRT Program personnel to access my USM student records and monitor my academic progress. Additionally, I agree to abide by all University policies and will commit to complete all expectations as outlined on the Applicant Information page. After my participation as a NRT Graduate Fellow, I agree to maintain contact with the project’s leadership in order to track my career development and evaluate the outcomes of the NRT project.
I understand that, as a NRT Graduate Fellow, I will commit to:
Participate in a one week Summer Bootcamp (Professional Skills)
Participate in all workshops throughout the year
Have experimental and computational co-advisors on committee and meet with them monthly
Complete an internship approved by the NRT Executive Committee
Participate in biweekly NRT meetings
Present research in at least one Regional or National Scientific Conference
Develop and deliver at least one outreach activity related to NRT research
Complete required 800 level courses and two required NRT seminars over a two year peri

The advisor must include a statement recommending your participation in the program, and a commitment to provide research support and funds for fringe benefits during your participation in all NSF NRT INTERFACE requirements.
